Why is a year 365.25 days?
Earth orbits the Sun in 365.2422 days. The extra ~0.25 day per year is why we add a leap day every 4 years. For finer accuracy, century years are skipped (1900 wasn't a leap year, but 2000 was).
What's the difference between a day and 24 hours?
Almost nothing in everyday use. Strictly, a solar day (sunrise to sunrise) varies slightly, and a sidereal day (Earth's rotation relative to stars) is 23h 56m 4s. This tool uses the standard civil day = exactly 24 hours.
